Let’s check in…have you put together a stress toolbox and
have you been taking time to remember or even record something positive each
day? If so I hope these things have impacted your daily lives in a very
positive way. If not then what are you waiting for? Read my previous posts and get started today and see
how much better you can feel.
What I would like to share with you in this post is a few
thoughts I recently had about missed opportunities. The other night I was reminded of a movie
that was released back in 2008 called The
Yes Man featuring Jim Carrey. In this movie Jim Carrey plays the role of a
man who leads a very mundane life doing the same thing day in and day out until
he hears a self-help speaker talk about the power of saying “yes”. Jim Carrey’s
character then decided to say yes to any opportunity that comes his way. Through this decision he finds that saying
yes has opened up so many experiences that he thought he would never have or
would never even wish to have but enjoyed them anyway.
In our busy lives we are constantly told “it’s ok to say no”
or “you should say no more often” and I agree that this is very important.
Taking on too many tasks on our “to do” list can most of the time result in
even more stress. But what if we learned to decipher between all of the “stuff”
that comes our way? What if we learned to say no to the wrong stuff and yes to
the right stuff? What could we be missing? Special time with family? Special
time with friends? Learning a new skill? Taking up a hobby? Visiting a new
city, state or even country? Think about how enriched your life could be by
just saying “yes”.
Here is my challenge for you today. Say “yes” to something
old. Say “yes” to something new. The key is to just say “YES” and see where it
takes you! It took me across the world to visit new countries and new cultures
so where will it take YOU?
I would love to hear your “Yes Man” story. Comment on my
blog or send me an email today and let me know how it works for you. My guess
is you will have great stories to tell!
Until next time…
