All Work and No Play...

Take a second and think back to a simpler time when life wasn’t so hectic and responsibilities consisted of cleaning your room and taking out the trash. Yes, I am referring to your childhood. Do you remember things you used to do when you were a child that were interesting to you or something that was fun? Do you remember the feeling that came along with this? Lately as life continues to throw me many curves balls I find myself thinking about those days and wishing I could get that feeling of simplicity back. As my stress levels seem to rise I find myself struggling and searching for ways to cope. In the midst of the searching I found myself in the middle of a conversation with one of my nieces about the “good ol’ days” and the things we used to do for fun. The subject of bowling came up. I found out that my niece had never been bowling. Well, this was just not right! I couldn’t deprive her of the experience so we planned a trip to go bowling. Now, let me first say this…I haven’t been bowling in a very long time so needless to say I knew there was going to be some pain involved in this trip but I didn’t care. We had a blast and I was reminded that  sometimes I need to take a “time out” from the stresses of life for just a couple of hours on a Saturday and do something that makes me feel happy and carefree.

Here is my challenge to you! Sometime during the next week make time to do something fun that you haven’t done since you were a kid. Take a break from the stresses of life and remind yourself that it isn’t all about work and responsibilities! Allow yourself a break! I promise…it is ok!

Until next time…just keep breathing…
